District 9 is the freshest take on an alien movie that I've seen in a long time. The aliens, commonly known as prawns ('cause that's what they look like), have been on Earth for years, and are forced to live in a ghetto.
The film is shot in a pseudo documentary style. The first half acts as social commentary, while the second half is balls-to-the-wall sci-fi action.
