I may have made an omission from my Top 10 Albums of 2009 list. I listened to Dan Deacon's Bromst for the first time on my flight to Toronto and it blew my mind. As we were descending, I closed my eyes and let the music take me away, it was glorious.
Animal Collective is a good reference point, though Dan definitely brings something new to the table and creates a distinct sound that's all his own. Chipmunk vocals, chimes, and electronics. It's weird and definitely not for everyone, but I'm diggin' it.
Apparently this guy went to SUNY Purchase and my brother used to see him play there.
