Dexter

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaay late to the party on this one, but I write about whatever I'm currently into on this blog, regardless. Dexter is an awesome television program airing on Showtime about a 'serial killer with a conscience' living in Miami.

See, Dexter Morgan has an uncontrollable urge to kill. His adopted father Harry recognized this tendency in Dexter early on, as he was growing up. Harry taught Dexter a code for dealing with who he is - not getting caught is the #1 rule. As part of the code, Dexter only kills people who deserve it - fellow killers.

Dexter also has an inside track as a blood analyst as part of the Miami PD. The show centers around Dexter's struggle to live a normal life while moonlighting as a killer. We also follow the adventures of Dexter's sister Deborah, who also works at the Miami PD as a detective (and knows nothing about Dexter's secret).

The production values of the show are top notch - you need only look at the genius opening sequence, which depicts Dexter performing seemingly menacing acts, only to turn out completely harmless - he's just eating breakfast, getting ready for work, etc.

If you haven't seen
Dexter, you can find the first two seasons available on Netflix Instant. I have blazed through the series, having gone through four seasons, with one more to go. The 6th season of Dexter will air at some point in 2011.
